 Interest in fly & light tackle fishing for "football" Bluefin Tuna has spread like wildfire across the northeast and Super Fly Charters is very excited to be once again offering this trip to you. Each summer "football" Bluefin Tuna arrive off the Maine coast to feed on the huge schools of Mackerel, Herring, Halfbeaks and Squid. Often these baitfish are found very close to shore and the Tuna are hot on their heels, churning the water in epic surface blitzes and amazing aerial acrobatics. Fish range in size from 50-100 pound "footballs" to giant triple digit "volkswagons". We have encountered these "football" Bluefin Tuna as close as 1 mile from shore.
Fishing tactics include "run & gun" fly casting to surface feeders with 14wt rods, casting poppers & metal jigs with spinning rods as well as
specialized "Butterfly" jigging techniques born and perfected on the Pacific Rim. We supply all the tackle necessary to subdue the powerful gamefish. Guided Beach Fishing Rates
In addition to the boat fishing trips, Super Fly Charters is pleased to offer shore based fishing excursions on some of Maine's most scenic beaches, rocky shorelines and estuaries. All of these areas offer prime habitat for numerous species of baitfish; all of which attract hungry Stripers.
This walk-in style of fishing offers a completely different and interesting perspective of fishing the coastal waters.
Capt. George provides all equipment for these surf fishing trips. A delicious picnic lunch or Classic Maine Lobster Bake prepared by your guide can be provided for a fee. These trips can be arranged for groups of 1-12 people, perfect for family outings.

Policies*50% DEPOSIT REQUIRED ON ALL TRIPS: Deposit will be refunded only if we can re-book your date; otherwise we will apply the deposit for a future charter. Weather cancellations happen from time to time and are the decision of the Captain based on unsafe conditions. If we are unable to reschedule a mutually agreeable date, you will receive a prompt refund.
